About

I'm passionate about the conservation of wetland and coastal ecosystems.

As an ecologist, I’m interested in wetland and coastal ecosystems. However, it wasn’t until I moved to the Pacific Northwest that I even learned about the importance of these areas. As an undergraduate, I was fortunate to research a tidal salt marsh on the Oregon Coast, fostering my interest in coastal habitats. While working at the Marine Sciences Laboratory, I spent countless hours in emergent wetlands and eelgrass meadows where I gained a newfound appreciation for how complex and beautiful these habitats are.

My passion for wetland and coastal ecosystems continued to grow while working on a master’s degree focused on the impacts eelgrass leaf detritus and roots have on sulfide concentrations in marine sediment. I plan to use what I've learned to help restore and protect coastal and wetland ecosystems worldwide. Outside of research, I enjoy hiking, drinking hot chocolate, and reading every classic book I can get my hands on.
